Summer Break Regression for Your Student?

Published: Tue, 07/09/19

Dear ,

Are you afraid your student (or child) will regress in the summer?

Regression is the loss of learned skills, usually after rests from school e.g. summer holidays! Some regression is normal in most children.

There are lots of ways to help prevent it, e.g.,reading practice, summer camps, and learning new skills.

Brain related skills or cognitive skills are essential for effective learning. When you get a student to improve skills such as working memory, attention, processing speed and sequencing skills then you improve the student's ability to learn.

We typically know what a student needs to learn in a subject. But students differ in their efficiency in learning or processing of information.

This summer think about the "other side of the coin", not the content of learning but rather the effectiveness of learning. Help your student get fitter for learning.

The good news is that brains can change. Here is John D. E. Gabrieli, Ph.D.Harvard Professor on what it takes to change the brain ( 1 minute video) Click here http://www.neuronlearning.com/john-gabrieli-on-fast-forword/
