A number of parents asked us to provide a short summary in non-academic language to help their child with dyslexia.
We use a version of this checklist when we are talking to parents about their children.
It will help you as a parent understand the reality of your child's reading and learning experience.
Don't look at just reading skills like phonics but also check for example;
***How well your child remembers what they read?
***Can they follow instructions?
***Are they interacting socially?
***Can they tell a story with a beginning, middle and end?
and so on.
It will also help you inform yourself when you are talking with their teachers.
But most importantly use it to identify the priority areas that your child needs to improve
Download the checklist here.
We hope you find it useful
Regards
John
