As teachers working with AI in education for over two years, we’ve changed how we talk about rules for AI. We used to say “AI policy,” but now we say “AI guidance.”
Why? Policies are strict rules that often become outdated as AI evolves. Guidance, on the other hand,
offers flexible, helpful advice that can grow and adapt with the technology.
In short, policies try to control AI use, while guidance helps both teachers and students learn to work with AI in positive, meaningful ways that support learning.
