Black Cabs and Memory Magic
One of the things we know in our practice is - how to improve a student’s ability to do maths, read and become a better learner on the way.
The importance of cognitive skills such as memory, attention, processing and sequencing is fundamental to being able to study. (We PRIORITISE this)
And a good memory is the turbo-charge for taking
in information accurately and efficiently (also known as processing).
A poor memory negatively affects attention, because it’s very tiring for a student to try to retain that information.
Poor memory lowers test scores?
Try doing multiple choice!
The strain on a student shows when all of their application is in trying to remember the problem
(and the students with better memory skills race
ahead).
And more.
But memory can be improved; ask
A London Black Cab driver
A musician
A neuroscientist.
Joyce will break it all down for you.
So you can start your child on a journey to developing a good memory, become a good student and be better able to follow instructions.
Reply with “working memory” in the text and I will send you the details of the
workshop..
The workshop is on tomorrow, 11 February 2026
See you there.
